Mabel Mak oversees businesses throughout Asia, takes care of her young son and is an avid MMA practitioner. Below, Mabel shares her secrets to finding balance between all her responsibilities.
SCHEDULING IS KEY
With a busy business life, Mabel understands how difficult it can be for mothers to schedule a day’s work. With her own schedule, Mabel insists on having at least a 60 minute workout with her coach each day. “My schedule is pretty much set, I take my son to school every morning before 8am and after that I always have a regular appointment with my trainer, which holds me accountable to not miss my workouts,” Mabel says.
EXERCISE KICK-STARTS YOUR DAY
Many studies have shown that exercising produces hormones that can relieve stress, reduce the risk of depression, improve your mood and help to regulate emotions. From years of regular physical activity, Mabel can say that it’s absolutely true for her. “I really enjoy morning workouts as it energises me for the day ahead, whether it be meetings, negotiation or helping my son with his homework.”
Why not join and MMA or Zumba class at UFC Gym? Once you have the date and time set, you can jump into exercising regularly and on a set schedule. Exercising can help to put you in a happy frame of mind which will impact all areas of your life, from business to family.
EVEN 30 MINUTES CAN BE EFFECTIVE
Finding time to fit in even a quick 30 minute workout can be beneficial to a busy mother however, it is important to choose the right workout for these shorter sessions. Mabel suggests finding a trainer that you connect with and whose timetable works for you, this way both sides will be held accountable for attending workouts.
